Lush Skincare

Usually I am no big fan of products that carry along a intruding fragrance, especially when you can smell it from almost 200m outside the store. I mostly just walk past the Lush shops as fast as I can to avoid the smell but my friend recommended me to go inside. So I went inside the store to find the shampoo that she recommended for hair loss and walked out with a empty wallet.

Lush is for the girls/boys that:

  • have sensitive skin
  • specific skin problems
  • the vegan
  • are eco-friendly
  • those who simply enjoy to eat their skincare products

An Addition to my skincare products

What happened was that I met this really friendly and sweet girl with the nicest british accent. When she approached me, I was a bit taken aback by her sudden enthusiastic presence. I told her about the problems with my hair: hair loss and thinner hait (for 6 months I have been dyeing my black hair to brown) So she told me about the shampoo and conditioner. After that I found myself confiding all my problems to girl, like she was some friend instead of a shop assistant. I could clearly tell that she enjoyed her job and truly loved the products that she sold.

I envy those who do what they love and love what they do. I don’t have to be a Bill Gates or the next Steve Jobs but I would love to find a job that keeps me motivated and strives me to challenge myself, whether it’s in a small or a big company.

On to the products, I am generally satisfied with the products. They are fulfilling their purposes but not exceeding, except for one product: Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner. This product is simply amazing, you apply in on while showering and it makes your skin baby-smooth. The fragrance is very pleasant and remains the entire day. I was so happy about this product because I have been struggling with dry skin and small pimples on my arms/legs (it looks like ingrown hair) The product not only made my skin softer but also reduced the amount of pimples. It may be a pricey product but it’s definitely worth it.

I am a Dior addict

I truly love all the products by Dior, not only do they look cute but the quality is also great. The pictures shows the products that I have in my collection. I will briefly explain the the products, a more detailed review will follow.

The lipsticks and lip glosses from left to right: Dior Addict lip maximiser high volume lip plumperDior Addict lip glow, Dior Addict fluid stickDior Addict extreme lipstick

My personal favourite is the Dior Addict lip maximiser, it gives your lips a little extra volume and shine. The product contains collagen and marine-based fillers, which makes your lips satin soft and kissable. It gives a tingly cooling sensation on the lips with a soft vanilla-mint scent. It is a must have for in the make up pouch.

Dior Addict lip glow is the most popular product of the make-up line of Dior. It is a sheer balm that enhances the natural color of your lips. The lip balm has a light sheer tint to it with an addition of SPF10 that will keep your lips protected. I think it’s a very pretty packaging and the tint feels like a normal lip balm.

The moisturiser on the right side: Hydra life pro-youth protective creme SPF15

Nail polish: Rouge Dior VernisNail glow

Last but not least: my favourite fragrance Miss Dior. I prefer the eau the toilette over the eau the parfum because I am not a fan over overwhelming fragrances like La Vie est Belle. Miss Dior is a sweet fragrance while adding an extra touch of freshness and tenderness. It is perfect for the romantic, elegant, girly, cute and feminine girls.

Beauty review: Origins

The products are manufactured by using a combination of renewable resources such as wind energy and earth-friendly practices. The materials they use are recycled whenever possible.

Origins clean energy

This cleansing formula is lightweight, high-tech and incorporates a hybrid formula with non-comedogenic. The olive, sunflower, sesame and safflower oils removes dirt, make-up and pollutants with high efficiency. Kukui nut and Macadamia protects and restores the natural moisture resources. Vitamin E reduces the effects of environmental hazards such as irritation, and the energising aroma of grapefruit, orange and lemon is a plus.

My review

I believe that a company will be great when the concept that they stand for is clear and inspiring. Origins is one of those companies that inspires me. They strive to increase the benefits of natural sources for beauty without damaging the environment. I must say that I have been using a lot of products from Origins and none has disappointed me so far.

Finding a perfect cleansing product is a hard task but to me it’s a must. Cleansing the skin is a daily routine and should be repeated to brighten the skin and prevent ageing.

This cleansing oil is light and suitable for every skin type. When mixed with water, it becomes a soap that removes make-up and dirt. My skin was a bit red when I used this product for the first time. When I ask the shop clerk about it, she told me that natural ingredients do not guarantee no reaction whatsoever. She advised me to keep using the product for a week and see whether it subdues. I think this is a great product to use once or twice a week, I wouldn’t advice to use it everyday.

Beauty review: Minon

A good friend of mine went to Japan a few weeks ago. The offers of beauty products in Japan is very broad and available in almost every shopping mall. As she walk along the streets of Tokyo, she found this brand. This mask is specially designed for the easily irritated skin and can be used to calm down the skin. I was dying to try this and the result was so surprising, that I wanted to share it. So below you can find the description of the product and my review.

Minon amino moist mask

This Japanese sheet mask includes 9 amino acids for dry and sensitive skin. The hypoallergenic mask is infused with a gel serum that use a mixture of Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF) which restores the skin barrier and protects the skin’s natural moisture and balance.

How to use: after cleansing and dapping the skin with lotion, position the sheet to nose and mouth and then smooth it out to fit the face. Remove the mask after 15 minutes and blend the serum with your fingers into the skin.

The mask can be purchased on for $19,50

My review

The packaging comes with 4 sheets. It’s kind of hard to unpack the mask because it is covered in gel and very sticky. After I untangled the mask and smooth it out on my face, I waited 15 min. The mask sticks to the face and one can walk around and do other activities while waiting. After that I removed the mask and rubbed the remaining serum. The result was amazing, my skin was so dewy and soft. It felt like a baby’s skin, I didn’t have any break out or allergic reaction. The most surprising thing was that the result lasted a few days.

Beauty review: Ladykin

I have a very sensitive skin, which makes it harder for me to find the perfect skin care. So I decided to write about some beauty products to share my opinion. If I can use it on my face, almost everyone else will be able to use it too. I even had a break out once from a Clarins sun screen. It was so horrible that I went through different stages of allergy:

Stage 1: pimples and acne (itching)

Stage 2: burned skin (very painful and still itchy)

stage 3: dry skin: it was so dry that I could see the dead skin on my face. (very ugly and unattractive)

stage 4: peeling off the skin: in the last stage I was simply peeling of the dead skin on my face….

Well enough about my skin problems, here is the review on the products.

Vanpir cream and serum

Ladykin brought out these two products recently. The vanpir cream and serum.

The name is very striking and makes one wonder. After some thorough research of the ingredients and looking up reviews,  I decided to give it a shot. So I ordered the product on (which basically the only website in the Netherlands that offers Korean products).

Vanpire dark repair cream

The product is designed to suit all skin types. The formula stimulates the metabolism    of the skin and stimulates the elasticity and prevents ageing. It helps with reducing the  wrinkles, freckles, and blemishes and remove fine lines. It also clears the facial spots, whitens skin and contracts expanded pores. Above all it improves the overal skin condition.

The price- for the cream was around €13,-

Vanpir dark repair youth activator serum

This is a concentrated serum that targets the signs of skin damage by also boosting the metabolism of the skin. It makes the skin brighten, lighter and more resilient to all kinds of damage that can be caused by air :3

The price for the serum was around €19,-

My review

Me, as a true asian, was mainly attracted to the fact that it whitens your skin. So I bought both the products for the optimum effect.  The serum is dark brown and fluid but with a good texture.  It didn’t have any smell to it and was easy to apply. The cream is thick and smells woody. It comes with a little miniature spoon, which makes it easy to get the right amount. Although the texture is thick, it didn’t feel sticky and was easily absorbed by my skin.

I have been using these products for a month now and I must say that I am pretty happy with it. The price is pretty reasonable and I didn’t get any allergic reaction. I’m not sure about the anti-aging effect of the cream (considering the fact that I am 19 without wrinkles) but I was happy about the overall results. My skin is a bit brighter and the blemish/spots disappeared a bit. I came to love the smell of the cream and it’s the perfect skin relief for the harsh winter here. I will keep using the products and strongly recommend it.
